"The Monument to the Martyrs of June 6" commemorates one of the most significant chapters in the indigenous history of Santa Inés Ahuatempan: the burning of the committee. This unofficial monument was built by a popular delegation of the "Barrio de San Antonio Tierra Negra y Tierra Colorada" to commemorate and pay tribute to its indigenous neighbors killed for "revealing" against the municipal government, which prevented them from the meeting because he considered it a danger that the "Indians" tried to take political power to claim their rights. Added to this existed the historical tension over racial disputes, the "right" to land, and linguistic exclusion between Ngibas (people inhabiting the neighborhoods) and Ndajuas, or People of Reason (people inhabiting the center). "The Monument to the Martyrs of June 6" does not represent any landscape of power, and it is not fundamental in the imagination of the country. It is an idealized recognition of sacrifice; moreover, in aesthetic terms, it`s a "traditional monument".

The multiple cohesive wills, and the multiple memories that built the monument, the only object that accounts for the conflict, also made possible the intervention, in history, of a discontinuous or alternate fragment. "The Monument to the Martyrs of June 6" is a rupture of the hegemonic narrative, a crack that resists the passage of institutional history and can assign an alternate historical sense.

This 1:1 scale replica emulates the conditions of care or deterioration that the original monument presents at a certain time.  As the material and symbolic conditions intervene in the structure of the original monument, the replica also changes. This narrow interlacing (between original and copy) is a thermometer of the actual conditions of the original monument, and metaphorically of the conflict happening and yet to happen. It also represents the distance between the "real" and its artistic and historical reconstruction.
